Our History

Joseph Ziccarelli, Sr. in 1964Owl Cleaners was started in 1952 when Joseph Ziccarelli, Sr. returned from World War II to purchase the cleaning shop where he worked in Etna.  Joe Sr. eventually opened three other stores before his death in 1988.  His wife, Annella, and daughter, Linda, operated the business until 1993 when Annella retired.  At that time, Joe Ziccarelli, Jr., who was serving as a signal officer in the U.S. Army, returned to the Pittsburgh area to run the business jointly with his sister.  Joe holds a B.S. in Engineering from Cornell University.

The company now has eight locations throughout the North Hills area and is the oldest family-owned dry cleaners in Pittsburgh.  Owl Cleaners is without rival in its commitment to customer satisfaction, and is continually adding services that increase value to our customers.  Owl Cleaners is grateful for the opportunity to provide quality service to our local customers and for their ongoing and continuing patronage.
